A consummate expert at getting a job, even in a down economy, Laura Dawn Lewis has landed over 25 positions in the past 18 years, (many times working 3-4 jobs at once to get through college). Since October 2002 through June 2003, though self-employed and not looking she's received over 15 interviews and 3 job offers from her proven techniques discussed in this book. For the re-write in 2009, she was able to secure 4 offers using these proven techniques and leveraging the new tools not available in 2003.
Born in Rochester, New York in 1966 Laura is the eldest of two daughters. She spent her junior year in high school as a Rotary International exchange student in Brazil.
In 1995 she graduated from Central Washington University with a BS in Marketing. By 1996 her life began taking a new direction as after being fired she chose to begin writing her first book, Sensuality Volume One, a collection of DH Lawrence style short stories for couples. This book led to the formation of Couples Company in 1999, the online resource dedicated to keeping relationships together.
Laid Off, Now What? is her third book and first Non-fiction release. Originally published in December 2003, it has been updated and re-released in 2009.
Concurrently with Couples Company, Miss Lewis has become instrumental in the launch of 3-beverage companies, an energy company and a financial services company.
2008 presented new opportunities when she was invited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to live and learn, assisting with research on the upcoming book, “Ultimate Betrayal: In the Name of Oil” due out in 2011. While is Saudi Arabia she and her partner completed the first draft of a book for the Ministry of Tourism written specifically for Westerners on doing business and living in Saudi Arabia.
The invitation to enter The Kingdom arose from her advocacy of interfaith/cultural understanding between the three monotheistic faiths and her coverage of human rights issues in the Middle East in partnership with a well-known journalist from the region. Together, under his name, they've received several international journalism awards.
In November 2008 she released her first children’s book: The Storybook Advent Calendar: A collection of Christian Bedtime Stories with the Storybook Advent Carols Collection with Musician/Composer Michael Brech.
Her passions include politics, food, human rights, history, faith and religion, art, music and sailing. Currently she resides in Los Angeles, California.
